At a young age Stephen would sneak into the kitchen grab his mothers pots and pans and make as much noise as he could. It sounded like music to him. In Niceville, Florida at the age of ten he was introduced to the drums. Shortly after, Stephen started playing at his father's church during the English and Spanish services. A year later his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. He started to play drums at the Spanish church he attended. That led up to playing for many local churches until 2000. In 2006 God led him to Hope Baptist Church, where he now plays and attends. In November of 2007 he was introduced to Fighting Forward and the rest is history in the making.

In New York, in 1977, Miriam and Francisco Torres gave birth to their eldest son of five, Stephen. He gave his life to Jesus Christ at the age of seven. Stephen grew up in an evangelistic family who traveled many place to spread the gospel. Their travels relocated their family to Florida. As Stephen grew older the call on his life grew also. The Lord allowed him to serve Him as a singer, drummer, assistant youth director, college and career director, deacon, and husband.
